Kay
Beaubien says in her artists statement: Twenty years ago
on September 12th, 1987, volunteers started construction
on Paul Intemann's dream, a trail along the foothills above
Manitou Springs. Today many enjoy the trail but for me it
is a part of my life that keeps me grounded, in contact
with nature and helps me stay fit. I hike it in all weather
and watch as the plants and creatures change with the seasons.
I never grow tired or bored with the scenes as it looks
different every day. I have hiked the entire trail and all
the connecting trails and still, I love the section between
Crystal Park Road and Section 16 the best and that is the
area I have chosen to paint. Georgia O'Keefe once said,
"It belongs to me. God told me if I painted it enough
I could have it." And that is how I feel.
